GETTING STARTED--Getting Great Color
All of the ColorDesk Utilties include ColorDesk's powerful color matching technology. Color Matching works in the background with your scanner, digital camera, monitor and printer to ensure that the colors of your images are consistent across all your devices.
It isn't a commonly known fact, but computers have a very difficult time dealing with color in a consistent manner. Photographs appear one way when they are scanned, another way when displayed on the monitor, and yet another way when printed. With ColorDesk's Color Matching technology however, you're assured that the colors you see will be the colors that print. (If you're the kind of person that really wants to know how everything works, checkout the Technologies Page of our web site for the Color Matching White Paper.)
Setting up ColorDesk's color matching is done using a very straight-forward wizard called ColorDesk Setup. There are four pages:
-
Input: All the TWAIN devices on your computer are listed here (i.e. scanners and digital cameras). Click on each device in the list one at a time, and then select a matching profile from the Profile dropdown. If your exact model is not listed in the dropdown, select the nearest match or Generic.
-
Monitor: Select your monitor type from the dropdown. If your model is not listed in the dropdown, select the nearest match or Generic.
-
Printer: All of the printers installed on your computer are listed here. Click on each printer in the list one at a time, and then select a matching profile from the Profile dropdown. If your exact model is not listed in the dropdown, select the nearest match or Generic. You only need to do this for the color printers on the list.
-
Finish: Click on the Save and Exit button to save all the changes you made.
That's it. Color matching is now configured on your computer. The only time you will need to redo the above steps is if you add a new scanner, digital camera, monitor or printer to your computer.
